Snipe fly in Richmond Pk this morning. Quite a large fly and not shy. MP E65 ring flash:

much smaller fly (4mm), very energetic. There was also a tiny green fly on this leaf that jumped every time the flash fired - no captures, talk about fast reaction times.

Snipe flies are up to about 15mm. Bit smaller than Scorpion flies.

Nice shots racketman, I wonder if it's a snipe fly that I caught a few weeks ago...about the right size and looks very similar from front on...will have to find the image and process it and post...
