I finally was able to get what to me is a decent shot of a dragonfly. Too bad I forgot to reset the ISO setting. This was shot at ISO 1600:( . So it is a little noisey. Oh well, I'll try again.

This guy has been hanging out right outside my front door for the last few days.

Hope you enjoy.

I think It's excellent. ISO 1600 gives it a slightly grainy film look - not bad at all.

Congrats!! Great shot. Very nice lace!
I'm still waiting for my first. Almost got a damsel fly a few weeks ago but that was definitely a tripod-needed day for me.
THe abandoned shell of a locust is about as good as I've gotten so far. They don't flit away so quickly. ;)

Well thanks guys, hopefully he will be back tomorrow.

I would like to give it a shot again at a more reasonable ISO (oops). Also next time I need to be more relaxed. Everytime he would take off I would jump thinking he was going to fly down my shirt (I must be wimpy:rolleyes: ). But, when he returned to his perch he would hover for a few seconds and I wasn't ready. I would REALLY like to get an in flight shot.

Thanks again,
Travis

Nice.... the 1600 ISO doesn't look too bad, either, though it might be a little messy for 100% crops :)

Nice image! Also, despite being ISO 1600, it cleans up relatively well with a default run of Neat Image:

Wow, it looks great! I really need to break down and purchase neatimage. But most of my shots don't need that, so it is hard for me to justify. This shows how well it works though, for those shots when you forget to change ISO:rolleyes:  .

Thanks,
Travis

Excellent shot- Lovely composition. The ISO thing is a PITA with it not being shown in the viewfinder. One of the reasons I've started using two camera bodies.

Well this thread has shown me why I'm pretty naff at Macro, I can't for the life of me see any difference between the original and edited shot. Time to throw it all in the bin and get to the opticians :( Nice shot none the less.
