Beautiful!!!! Love how you caught the stages it went through. We had a huge cicada showing here in MD, a couple of years ago... I miss their sound... it was so mesmerizing.

You certainly used it well to show that process. Thanks, Waussie! I am glad that I saw this process first-handed. Emerging is one of the most exciting thing to see Canon 1DMarkIII

I think I am just lucky enough to spot this guy coming out from the ground. On top of that, I actually did not expect to see cicadas around this time of the year, as they normally come out in August. This series brings back childhood memories from 50 years ago. We would catch as many of these coming out of the ground as we could and set them on our screen door. Brown (orange yellow when wet) were common, the blue green ones were quite rare. I remember thinking those were some of the prettiest colors I had ever seen. I felt my memory must have exagerated that, but your captures bring it all back, including the three orange red "eyes". Thanks so much for sharing. Mark

If I see that many here, I probably would still do what you described Canon 1DMarkIII

Great follow thru on the shots capturing its progress from the larva stage to adult (i think thats what one would call it). The images are very crisp clear and the color is great. http://www.flickr.com/photos/photographypas/
