I,m using a 430EX on my 350D. When i shoot macro i'm using manual mode on my camera with ISO at 100, shutter speed 200 and apeture f/16-f/22. The flash i set at 45 deg with a defuser and in ETTL.
The lens i use, is the Sigma, listed below.

My problem is, i have to wait about 30 sec to 1 min before the flash has recycled allowing me to take another picture.

Any suggestions and advice would be great.

One day i will purchase a decent macro lense..........for now, Partner, Children and Dogs won't allow me.:)

Shoot ISO 200 and don't go over f/16 and try new batteries

Sounds like you do have duff batteries- as Racketman suggests use NiMH rechargeable batteries as these recharge the unit faster. I suspect from the way you are using the flash and the small aperture, you are probably using almost full power flash so are discharging the capacitors in the flash unit each time. Try bigger apertures say F11 and also try using the unit at normal angle with and without the wide angle diffuser deployed with no stofen on it.
In the longer term think about flash bracket and off camera flash cord to take the flash head nearer to the end of the lens.
