Grey Wagtail against the current

This Grey Wagtail was feeding at the base of a mini-falls at Quezon province, Philippines .... I was amazed at how it can hold its footing against the on-rushing current...

When I got this Motacilla cinerea late last March, it should be about to leave our tropical islands and head north. The throat has started to darken to breeding colors.

It was foraging for insects and invertebrates that are carried with the water...

I agree with Paul about giving the bird just a tad more breathing room.

This little bird can hold it's own against the current, it doesn't seem to flinch.

I normally crop tighter in size-limited web images to show more detail... I agree that a looser crop would be more pleasing, and that's what I'd do when I print this to a 12x15...
