I'm not sure of the lens. I tried for 4 days to get a look at it, but he was very secretive about letting anyone see his equipment. He stayed away from anyone with a camera

Yeah I did too, but I think it may be the hood that makes it seem that way. Or I could be totally wrong :P

Also if you look at the back, it's got a white adapter which could be a TC of some sort on it.

Yep, it is. I just zoomed in on the original shot and the lettering on the plaque is the same, and...the low number for the zoom index is 70

If you are shooting for money and not chimping, its just kinda dumb. Theres a ton of info on that LCD that can save your butt BEFORE you go home and find out. It's a different concept than the "hold it out and use it to frame" P&S mentality.
Trying to look cool isn't nearly as satisfying as a $50.00 shot


A 40D, a 30D, some nice glass and a great Shooting Partner.
