Hi Mark- good shots- first guess would be a sawfly possibly gooseberry or turnip. How long was it?

Thanks for your comments & ID, my guess at the flies size is about 5mm it was sat on Cow Parsley if thats of any help ????

Thanks for your comments, it's a strange thing this Macro, since I've been doin this I'm amazed at the countless varieties of insect, bugs, etc. that there are, I know that they've always been there I spoze but my eyes are getting used to spotting them as an interest rather than just an annoyance that need flitting away.

no end to the variety of insect species - probably as many still to be classified. 1000 species of Earwigs alone! Only wish they came out in the winter instead of clashing with the tennis season!
#2 is good, hard to get detail on those black insects.

Thanks for your comments, now there's an insect I've not seen since starting Macro, like a policeman, never can find one when you want one eh, usually you turn over any old piece of wood & there they are but oh no, where they've all gone!!!
