Hiya All,
A couple more shots from yesterday, have seen loads of these butterflies around lately but never this little fly, there were a number of them around but they never seemed to stay still, all of these flies seemed to be flashing their wings, I guess either to attract a mate or as some sorta warning????
Cheers for now
Mark

The butterfly is a meadow brown. Haven't a clue about the fly.

Hi Mark- excellent pics again :)
The fly is Sepsis fulgens - try to find a mating pair, the male looks like he's having a rodeo ride :). Think they are sometimes called signal flies.

Hiya Ken,Darren,
Thanks for your comments, yeah the shadows not to bad but I do prefer it without, like you say a question of personal taste, it does help having other peoples views cause unless things are pointed out how is a novice to learn & be able to make informed choices.
Cheers for now
Mark
