Fired up my brand new Rebel 350D and snapped one of my dog for the first shot. Auto mode until I learn the features.

Great shot, lovely detail in the face, one with a tighter crop might be nice also.

Hi there. Well, this should tell you a little bit about your camera and lens. In Auto mode, you achieved perfect focus, and good composition -for a test shot anyhow-.

Check out the sharpness in that picture. With some patience, one can count the hairs on this puppie. That's the second thing you need to know. That is one good looking dog.

I assume you shot this with your 50mm, internal flash (thanks to Auto), and close to the minimum focal range, which is about 3-4 ft?...

You have enough equipment to outshoot (if the unfair term is allowable in this case) about 80% of anyone in this forum. So now that the camera works, what are you going to do?... I am excited to see your next posts. Stick to one lens, and shoot away !!

auto as you have just shown can produce some astounding pics, most errors in photography are from people moving from auto when they just aren,t ready , which is why im still using auto
