i was tempted to go with the g5 because i was worried that the sticker would eventually come off or get damaged. the durability of the card itself seemed to be one of the main selling points, but that isn't the case with the sticker on it...

I have the G6 and there's no longer any black on it. It's now just a grey card thing with white sticker. The black came off when I tried to peel the clear sticky cover that was already starting to come off. I wanted rid of it but the black decided to go with it. I used a Brillo pad to just scrape off the goo and remaining black.

Waste of cash if you ask me. That sticky covering shouldn't have been able to peel off in the first place, and since it did, it should have come off without peeling up the black.

And I hardly ever even used mine - it definitely didn't withstand any kind of abuse.

pat, according to their website, they offer a plugin that allows you to use the whibal with jpegs. i was thinking about ordering one myself. it seems pretty handy and easy to take anywhere. price is nice too.

hey forkball, i noticed you have a gretag macbeth chart. i just got one an am going to create different profiles for ACR for different lighting conditions. have you done that as well? if so, did it fight you? i tried twice so far just to test it out and i was having a hard time trying to get things to match up numerically. just wonderin'

I haven't done that actually... my workflow is now more dynamic. I generally stick with my whibal for reference and I create ACR profiles for specific shoots as opposed to specific lighting situations in general. I also white balance all my files from Adobe Bridge.

I've had mine for a while now and I've not had your experiences. The sticker is alive and well. But I'm sure if you e-mailed customer service, they'd send you a new sticker. The selling point for me wasn't the sticker anyway. It was the measured absolute nuetral gray material. You even get a report on it's LAB values. I did find a paint swatch at Home Depot that's very close though...lol.

yep... it's the Kelby card. It was in the back of the CS2 for photographer's book.

I use Whibal and you can even get a discount as a NAPP member.
