Doesn't shoot bad by itself either for a chunk of plastic, but I will probably hack it into a macro anyway.

Made the modifications and it's been fun. handholding it in low light was a bit of a challenge, auto iso hit 12800 a couple of times. 80mmIMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/PaKMsi

I modified it so that I still have the middle element of the front group intact allowing me to focus manually. Here are the results: 1. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I joined this forum specifically because I discovered this thread. I'm still fairly new to photography, and really only know some of the basics of traditional photography. I'm very interested in learning new styles, including macro photography. As for this thread, very cool photos, everyone! I especially loved a few of the flower and bee close-ups, and the water drops were amazing. I'd love to know more about how you show these drops, steelbluesleepr, if you don't mind sharing. And thanks to everyone who detailed how to perform the lens modifications, and all of the testing from mjflory.

Anyone have any comments about using the lens on a reverse mount adapter as far as focus distance, etc. Obviously when using the reverse mount method everything is done in manual but you don't have to cannibalize the lens.

DCBBPhotography Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 02, 2017 09:35 | #375 Just ran across this thread. Pretty neat, and really good results posted here. I got this lens with the original film Rebel back in the early 90s, I think I still even have the box that everything came in. John
