I suppose this might also work on other cheap lenses. Has anyone tried this on a 28-80 or 35-70?

Mine doesn't have a sticker either, but I can't seem to take anything off the front, poppin' something off, or twisting doesn't seem to do anything and I am afraid of doing something the wrong way. It's a EF-S 18-55 mm 3.5-5.6 ll Does anyone know what I should do? http://www.flickr.com/people/awdrey/

I am doing the same thing to my lens right now, i check with other people on other forums and you can put the top element piece (without the top element) back on and it will work fine, you can put the filter on to keep the dust out too. Post some pics when you get it going.
