After holding off for the better part of 2 months, I finally gave in and pulled the trigger. I have a 70-200 f/2.8L IS on the way. I'll probably have it tomorrow (when I use B&H and choose standard ground shipping, I get my packages the next day!)...

Super excited! Now it's time to put the Sigma 70-200 up for sale! :D

The Sigma is great... don't get me wrong... I loved the Sigma lens! It's just that I like to take a lot of low light shots where shutter speed goes down to around 1/100th or so. At SS of 1/100th, I get a lot of camera shake and have a hard time getting a sharp image. So I've been wanting IS for quite some time, but Sigma doesn't offer it.

I'll more than likely keep my Sigma 24-70.... I love this lens too! And because it has a shorter focal length, camera shake isn't as much of a problem. :D

i'll bet you'll be so blown away by the L lens that you'll dump the sigma and get a 24-70 or 24-105.

okay, how much you wanna bet :D ?

Ok... I'll bite.... How about this.... I bet that I can hold off on buying the 24-70 or 24-105 until Saturday. If I do, then you owe me YOUR 24-70!

Cool? hehehe....

You are going to be impressed with two things tomorrow. First, you will be able to get decent hand held shake-free images thanks to the IS. Second, you can't help but be impressed with the shear imposing bulk of the lens once you mount it. I love mine dearly, but it is a bit of a beast. Can a 24-105 IS be far behind? L's just seem to multiply.

it's a bet! because i don't own the 24-70 :D .

seriously, what i've found is if my lenses aren't comparable in IQ, color and contrast i am hesitant to use the one lacking when i need that focal length.

that's my experience anyway and my rationale for buying my last L lens  .

That's pretty much what I figured the reason was. I've been able to handhold my 24-105 down to 1/3 ~ 1/5 sec. with sharp results. Kinda makes me wanna move up from the 70-200 f/4L to the f/2.8L IS.
