Stink bug is right. It's a hawthorn shield bug. If you handle it, it emits foul smelling stuff, hence the alternative name.

Definitely not a Stink or Shieldbug. Its a Plant bug - possibly Calocoris roseomaculatis. You spotted the focus prefectly on the eyes.

very nice shot Mark.
I would perhaps lighten it up just a tad....
the way i do this is normally add a levels adjustment layer in ps...
adjust the level till its close to being overexposed..... then use the layer opacity slider to fade the levels in and out until I think it looks right...
(you can also do this selectively by picking a colour range)

the added advantage to doing it that way is that if you make a complete mess of it you can just delete the adjustment layer and get the original back

Hiya Alan,
Thanks for your comments, I'll have a play with Elements & see what comes out in the wash as they say.
Have you got a spare room up there in Cumbernauld ? I need somewhere to hibernate from this damn heat down here, don't where the forecasters get the idea its cooler in this part of the country, my thermometers are reading 86 in the shade.
Cheers for now

Nice shot. Really like how much detail you got in the eyes.

Hiya mplonsky,
Many thanks for your comments, as I said to Dave it makes it all worth while when it comes out alright, but in my case I still think its more luck than judgement.
Cheers for now
Mark
