The fire here in southern California is now 40,000 acres, growing, with another fire at 3,600 acres moving towards the main fire and will merge. For those familure with this area the fire is moving towards Big Bear. They are already cutting fire lanes up there. To get an idea of the smoke, there are reports that people can smell it from Ogden Utah. I could get some shots of the fire but with the evacuations, fire equipment, and other looky doos the only two roads are crowded and I'm staying put. Anyway the smoke was so thick last night the sun was completely blocked out as it was setting only to make an appearance as it hit the horizon. Here are two. I'm still going through almost 300 images.

Impressive photos - I saw a huge old burn area in the Canadian Rockies near Radium - it was sad to see so much destroyed, but amazing too to see how fast new growth was coming. I hope you stay safe and that no-one is hurt before they can get these huge fires put out. Can't imagine what it must be like.

The second shot is awesome. Well done.

I don't have anything against Nikon cameras, just the people who use them.
