there's a whole kind of trying to shoot things that you don't normally see, windows are doors are things that you walk through look past, but taking the time to shoot them as their own composition appeals to me.. Dave's are fantastic the character, color and textures appeal to me.. But, the simplest explanation, I saw it I thought it could translate into a photo so I shot it. works for me and is all the explanation I need..
For portraits, I love window light.. and often look for it when shooting people..

a couple examples of why I like windows..

How about "because they're there"? It's a matter to looking at the world a little differently & finding an interesting image in the mundane. Old, heavily weathered objects have lots of texture & implied stories, thus are a little easier to make interesting images.

Yeah, they're there and rarely move! At least, pictures without camera shake :)

To be more serious... Look elsewhere and you see a lot of doors and windows floating around. They allow you to easily explore and study color, contrast and composition, whithout going to a vacation to take good pictures. Something like shoting apples and bananas :)

Sometimes, windows and doors are appealing to look at, or have interesting architecture.

I have sold at least a dozen matted and framed copies of this image 11x14 at more that $125 apiece.

I have literally hundreds of shots of interesting windows with window boxes, flowers, cats, people, railings, fire escapes, etc.
I also have a collection of photos of 18th and 19th century Italian doors matted and framed in a prominent place in my home.

To each his own.

I'm very stupid, especially when it comes to art.

Never seem to get the point.

To me, its like music. Why do they make different types of music? I don't like certain types of music, but I know SOMEONE will. it just is what it is.

This is my Camera.
There are many like it, but (
