Been full for a long time sir. There just may be another safari trip during 2008: possibly South Africa and a blend of city and safari. However, may also be a wildlife trip to Belise or Costa Rica instead. Who knows ... we'll just flow with it a while until we do ;-)a

Maybe someone else is interested in setting something up.

I do have my heart set on either Greece or Belize.... leaning heavily towards Belize, but feel that it's a good idea to get through Africa first.. who knows? maybe after three weeks with me in Africa y'all will change your mind on letting me tag along anywhere else...

My nifty little Vaio (which I practically stole off of ebay) fell off an eight foot ladder. I *knew* I shouldn't take it to work, but it was just so darned handy!

OUCH! Can it be fixed?

Geez... I hope you can get it worked out, Beth! I remember how excited you were to get that machine! :(

Nice buy Becca ... and bad luck Beth. Those little Vaio's are very sweet machines. Hope you get a fix.

You're going to like it: fine blend of build, range, quality, price, size, weight, usability. Scores very well on all criteria :D

So, I have been buying bits and pieces from my travel list bit by bit this last few months whenever I have time to bargain search online and have some spare cash swimming around in my pocket, so my latest bargain buys include:

Victorinox Craftsman Penknife (I lost my wonderful mutlitool/knife a few months ago!) Recta Elite DT 420 Compass
Ergorest® MultiTripod (external link)

This Ergorest® thing looks a great buy at the price I paid as can be used to mount lenses steady on the Bakkie window, for using as a mini tripod for Macro style shots, or on desks and walls, etc. I will try it when it arrives but I'm thinking most of my tripod needs can be covered by this.

Also bought a fine western style crushable felt hat made by Christy's of London, which is a well known hat maker over here, for a very nice price. Means it can go flat in my case rather than having to wear it and looking a mug in London en route!!

Man, I love a bargain :-)

It's looking like an awesome camera ... read a review of it today (technical rather than actually in use) and I see why people are tempted. Personally, I can't see me ever wanting to spend that kinda cash on a camera body. Be good to see it in August anyway and be interested to test it against the cheaper bodies side by side and see the impact of a body on IQ.

So, I have been buying bits and pieces from my travel list bit by bit this last few months whenever I have time to bargain search online and have some spare cash swimming around in my pocket,

I've been doing the same thing. I got a Power Inverter (external link)for the folks from the US to plug chargers, etc into the car cigarette lighter and a new duffle bag (external link)that has a cool "basement" in it to pack my tripod or anything else that needs a little extra protection.

I still need to get a hat, travel insurance, and my international driver's license. I think everything else has been taken care of.

That tripod thing looks like it would come in really handy in the car. You'll have to let us know how it works out when you get it!

Tommy, congrats on the new camera! I can't wait to see it in August.
