This may have been discussed already but found a script that is included with the Apple Pro Training book on Aperture (ISBN 0-321-42276-7)

The script will watch a directory and auto-import into an aperture project which it prompts you to create upon launching the script. I've tested this with the Canon Utilities Capture Tool and it works quite nicely. I love Aperture for it's interface for image selection/tag and review. It's not everything I need in a DAM application but it provides what I need for typical needs I have for wedding/portrait photography. For longer term archival I'm still using IView for the moment.

At any rate, the book is a good and provides some automation discussions as well such as using automator actions to go out to Photoshop, peform some batch operation and resave those files back to Aperture. (Another very handy feature it seems but one I've not tried yet but will shortly for use with my noiseninja filter based ps actions.

Cheers!

Jim
