Thank you, I was able to line up the plane on number 1. Thanks for noticing I was trying to get the spider's eyes with the fly's eyes in focus. The edge of the box was in the way for number 2 to get the head on shot, I was thinking about focus stacking it but didn't manage to get a second shot because she started to run up the side and the lid was off. Just wanted to add, all the webbing in the box over night was crazy, she must have been doing lap after lap trying to walk away, it was a tangled up mess in there. Every square inch of the bottom of the box had web crossing in every direction. You see the dark spon in the fly's eye? she stuck her fang right into it's eye! Couldn't imagine something like that, although those horse injury pics are nasty enough not to have to think about it too much.

Great captures :D I really like #1, but it is too bad that the wing covers the spider's face.

love 'em.

can you tell us about the paper filter technique you are using?

I'd have liked to see the the spiders face in focus in #2 as I felt emotions for the fly in this one.

These are great shots.

I rolled up a sheet of paper to give it some shape, then taped two of the opposite edges of the paper to the omnibounce, it curls around the omnibounce. It's not very durable and I lost some light between the omnibounce and the paper but it works for close up stuff.
