Picked up the Sigma 150 today. The guy gave me an offer I could not refuse! How about $495 brand new in box with authorised dealer warranty!

I had no doubt it would be sharp, and it is. My only concern was AF. Not for macro, but to use it as a tele lens.

Heres how mine AF's. Focusing from one distance to another is lightning - USM - fast if the distance is not far. That meaning roughly a distance of maximum 8 meters results in adequate/fast AF. Anything over 8 meters and it gets slow. The further the distance equals the slower it will AF. I kinda guessed that before buying/trying it.

My only personal issue with it is the hunting if it doesnt focus.
I remember some Cfn or Pfn on the 1dmkII to resolve hunting. Anyone remember it from the top of thier heads?

I would post the customary "proof of purchase" image but my sensor is filthy and the blower isnt helping. :(

Better get out the Eclipse solution and sensor swabs for that sensor. That lens will show every speck of dust! :)

Congrats on your new acquisition.

how would you say that af is between this and the ef 135mm f/2 L. obviously the L would be faster being a normal lens, but say would the sigma 150mm fall a second behind if they were made to focus under the same conditions?

Jaetie, I would say the delay between AF is definitely less than 1 second. This is assuming you are focusing on something within 10 meters or less of your current focus point. Then its less than a second.
