I use Sandisk as many others here do and I haven't ever had any problems.. reliable, fast and whatnot. I'd say go for an Ultra II 1 or 2 gig. I shoot with two 2 gigs and that gives me about 450-500 RAW shots with a 20D so you should get pretty similar...

I agree, 1 or 2 gig is a good size. I buy my cards from Newegg.com, great prices and fast delivery. I've never had a problem with SanDisk or Kingston brands.....Jake

I also use newegg.com for CF cards, cheaper than B&H. I just picked one of these up shipped it was just under $85 USD. http://www.newegg.com ….asp?Item=N82E16820171051 (external link)

From the many posts on the forum Sandisk seems to be a popular choice. I (and a few others) have been happy using Kingston Elite Pro CF cards which also have a lifetime warranty.

With regard to size, it all depends on your shooting style and your budget. If I was in your shoes I would grab a minimum of 2 2gb CF cards just so I can go through the day shooting. At a later stage, you may want to invest in a portable storage device -- this comes in handy when you go on holidays/vacations. I have one that holds 20gig worth... though I may upgrade the drive sometime soon since it is over 5 years old and may suddenly crash...

Have fun!

John;)

I would like to echo the sentiments of the Kingston 2GB Elite Pro cards. They work fine and are on sale right now at buy.com for $50 after rebate.

I agree Sandisk Ultra II's are a good bet. I have 5 total now and not one has ever had a problem. I would get the largest you can afford. I had a 4GB for my 20D and now with my 5D and 30D and they work great. Enough room for a weekend getaway or a paid shoot.

I use a Sandisk Ultra II (2 gig) in my Rebel XT. Good for 581 large JPEG.

I got stuff for taking pictures. :o When things are unclear - It's time to refocus.

At least 1GB. I use a Sandisk Ultra II as my primary CF and definitely recommend it :)

I'd get a couple of 1GB Sandisk Ultra II's. Very dependable cards with a reasonable price tag.

lol I'd carry plenty 1GB cards and a laptop to transfer the files to (or external harddrive with a CF slot to backup)

I'd take a good waterproof jacket (for when the weather is nice by Scottish standards), and a large pile of books (for when it isn't).
