6 from today (including a hoverfly in flight!)

Man, Brian (LordV), these hoverflys are dang near impossible for me to take pictures of in flight. The ones in my yard are absolutely terrified of everything, including me. I just can't get close! Your "bogey" shot is absolutely amazing on its own, but even more astounding when you take into account how hard these are to take pictures of. So, here's my feeble attempt.

1. I know the composition isn't great and the focus is off. I'm more just posting it as a personal mileston than anything:

I think the hoverfly is pretty good, and I like the wing colouration. The caption on # 3 makes a great shot even better.

Nice series, #1 is very impressive. I can't even remotely get that good a shot of them. I typically have all of about a quarter of a second to focus on the buggers before they take off and they never go back into the same position...

Think you are being hard on yourself- #1 is a superb in flight shot with good composition and focus and very nice wing clarity. The other shots are excellent as well . You sure are getting used to that lens.

I can;t get remotely similar shots either (read all the techniques, putting them to practice etc)

My camera (yes I am going to blame it) just doesn't seem to get any sharpness. Perhaps it is the diopter setting?

My eyes are 100% OK.

Is there any way I can test to see if the diopter is out?
