I just received one and I am much displeased. It gives a brownish cast to two different monitors I have tried it on. I contacted Pantone and it is a know issue that they are workingon and promise to have a fix soon. You might want to hold off on one at this time.

I might be in the market for one of these if I can't address my printing issue. After much reading of reviews, I won't buy one. I'm going Sypder if I do buy one.

Mines on the truck out for delivery _ I've read a lot of very positive reviews on it so we'll see soon enough this evening.

I originally bought the Spyder2 Express and returned it for the suite. To a point it works but for the money, that is questionable. As for the printing the printfix is ok if you're not expecting much and you would still need to spend another $500 for the colorimeter thingy for the printing part to really make a difference.

Well I must say that I'm pretty impressed with the results its done on my ViewSonic VP171b Pro Series LCD. At factory defaults using the Nvidia video card Standard Mode it was too bright and had to much contrast _ kinda what I've thought all along.

Also I don't see the "brownish cast" the second poster claims to have.

Huh - Any other thoughts on the Huey vs. the Spyder2? I'm tired of fighting the whole "what I see isn't what I print" thing today. It makes me want to not even look at or take pictures right now.

Don't know if you've seen it or not Clean but here's a pretty good cut and dry review on the huey: http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/reviews/pantone_huey.html (external link)

I think its great, for the money. I knew my monitor was not calibrated properly, as using the Adobe Gamma box within a box procedure never seemed right to me. I set up the Huey, and three minutes later my monitor (17 Samsung) seemed natural, bright and correct. Colors match the real world. If my cat didn't knock it off the desk and then chew on the wire, I'd still have it set up. The replacement should be delivered any day.

I do not know exactly how a "better" more expensive calibrator will improve what I see on my screen. I'll have to take the word of other professionals that there is a percievable difference between the Huey and other higher priced models. Right now, I knwo that what I see on the screen appears to be what the colors are in the real world and from my camera, and from my printer. Seems worth the price to me.

(No brownish tint as far as I can tell) If I use one of or more of the presets I get a tint, but not with the web/photo editing preset, which is what I should be using.

another thing too is once its calibrated is allowing your eyes to get use to what its now seeing as compared to what its been seeing before.

Thanks Bluedog, that helps a ton. One of the things I'm worried about is not having enough color management options on my stock Dell LCD. Any thoughts on this?

I'll be totally honest > I'm no expert in this department < but assuming your just going for basic prints and such I believe it'll serve you well. One thing also is that if buy from the likes of B&H I'd assume they would take it back with in their the return policy. You might not want to open the cleaning packets just in case.

B&H specifically makes note on their site that the Huey is not returnable.

I have the huey, and it works well for me.
I don't get the brown tone though... I guess there are some bum units out there. I didn't even know.
