Besides your general comments, I would like to know what do you think about B&W conversion and background contrast (I worked on it separetly, masking the subject).

Thank you!
T.O.

I like the B & W conversion, background is nice. The right arm seems a bit blown out to me but I am no expert. The overall feel to the shot is excellent.

I think it is beautiful. Very nice conversion. There is some pure white on her upper right arm and in the highlights throughout, but I expect those are probably from the downsizing and the .jpg conversion for posting here.

I am posting an edited version with some hesitation. Your picture is excellent as it is, and I don't feel that what I have done makes it better; rather it's a different interpreation.

I thought maybe the people in the background on the right side of the picture were distracting. And I thought focusing the brightness on the dancer might be interesting. Again, in no way better, just different in the interest of discussion.

Its funny the contrast in this image makes it look like a stage with stage lighting.

The right arm would be improved with some burn in but other than that its an awesome shot

Thank you all for your input.

I wanted the bright right arm to contrast a maximum with the background, it is not completely white in my full resolution file though. What Julie did is also interesting, and serves this idea. Now, looking at both versions, I can't decide which one I prefer. :)

There was stage lighting actually, at that moment the girl was illuminated by a strong red/ambar light.

regards,
T.O.

I have no complaints with this at all. The arm is blown out? Who cares everything doesn't have to be by the book. Look at the greats and their photos can be picked apart. Beautiful and don't let anyone tell you different.

tlc,

there was no major PS work, only conversion from RAW, curves, levels and channel mixer.
