LOL.. I am glad someone besides me knew that was a katydid. They aren't really uncommon. The photos are quite striking. :)

Did a quick serach and found out that Katydids, Crickets and grasshoppers belong to the same order - Order Orthoptera (external link). Bush crickets is in Family Trigonidiidae (external link), while katydid is in Family Tettigoniidae (external link).
