Camera Bag Suggestion for Digital SLRs

Greetings to the group...

I am in the market for a new camera bag to hold a Canon 10D, 4 lenses, a flash, and other miscellaneous filters and accessories. I am in an unfortunate situation in the fact that I have no local camera shops where I can go examine the bags up close to determine what I like best. I want a shoulder bag. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I am currently using the tamrac model 750 daypack for almost exactly the items you mention. I like it because it has space for a backup SLR as well. It is comfortable and easy to carry. It works okay and is water resistant. However, it does seem to bit limited on the spaces for lenses. You may want to consider something bigger if that is a concern.

Take a look here at LowePro Stealth Reporters. The 300AW upwards should suit.

I use the Stealth 300AW and I love it so much I'm on my second one. I can get the 10D with grip and a fitted lense in the centre partition and then three additional lenses and a flash in other partitions. Still have room for a few filter boxes and then the usual photographic shrapnel (e.g. batteries, cables, cleaning stuff).

The bag is easy to use on the shoulder, is comfortable even over long distances. Can be fully waterproofed by pulling out and fitting the captive rain cover. This is also useful as a knee rest when kneeling on wet ground. The colouring is very subtle and not in your face screaming "Lot of expensive camera gear" which is how I like it.

For my larger bag I use the Tamrac 612 Pro,
2 cameras, 4 lenses, 2 flashes, accessories and room left. Very comfortable to carry with both the 70-200 IS and the 100-400 IS as the big lenses. The main reason I like it - it will fit in most airline overhead bins (except the really small puddle jumper bins)

I would recommend either Tamrac or Lowepro bags, but always make sure you have a bit extra room for growth.
