The hovers were out today! Still not 100% happy with the in-flight shots, but that just means I need more practice.

1. The first of two in-flight shots:

2. And the second (I kinda missed the focus on this one):

3. Requesting permission to takeoff, over:

4. Just sitting here, not hovering:

5. I ran out of captions. Sorry:

6. Finally, some raindrops:

Question: Even when I shoot at ISO 100, I get a lot of noise (or, at least noticeable noise). Anyone know why that is? Is it just because the 300D doesn't have DigicII?

Thanks for looking!

Nice series, I like #5. Glad you're getting hoverflies, the mongrels don't stay still for me :(

Excellent series. :)
You just need the background to be a bit nearer for the in flight shots so that lights up a bit. Love the pose in#5- looks like it's going to pounce on something.
Interesting markings on the hover, not sure I've seen this species before.

Oh, is that all? Ok, I'll just waltz up to my hoverfly (who is scared of absolutely everything including but not limited to his own shadow) and kindly ask him to hover a few inches to the left so my bokeh is better. I'm sure he'll understand ;).

Thanks for the comments. As they say, practice makes perfect, so I'll be doing just that.

You guys are great!
