i'm fed up with living in the middle of a housing estate with nothing to take pictures of and i have the whole first week of august at my disposal so i fancy going to do some street photography in and around central london and wondered if any other PotN members would like to join me.

i was thinking of just getting a travelcard and going wherever the fancy takes me, ending up in a pub early evening for some quick refreshments before heading off home.

i'm quite easy about the exact date and time as long as its between saturday 29th july and the 6th august.

all are welcome, old, young, pro, beginner, makes no odds to me.

if you'd like to come please copy paste this list and and add your name and which date you'd prefer it to be and we can go from there.

list so far

darn! I'll be in London tomorrow for two days, then off to Leeds for two weeks, and then back to Arizona.

Would have been fun to spend a few hours (more like many hours) shooting the scenery with a "local"

cheers!

i'd have gladly popped up to london tommorow but sadly i'm waiting for payday next week before i'll have the cash to travel up there.

i'm sure you'll find plenty of opportunities of your own to shoot, oh and watch out for the subway (underground/tube) at the moment, its sweltering hot down there from the weather, best to carry a bottle of water with you if you're going to use it :)

thanks for the heads up on the tube - we will definitely be using it during our stay. We'll be operating out of Paddington station area as a home base....it's near where we are staying.

I should be able to find one or two things worth photographing....

on the second saturday i may be attending a canon eos discovery seminar...

depending on if i can get into the early or late session i may not or may not be able to do saturday 5th. hopefully i can get into the early one which would mean i'd be finished by 12 and i could meet up with everyone shortly after.

if not then sunday 6th is also another option perhaps preferable even for those with prior engagements?

How would you feel about meeting either early Saturday morning or saturday evening so that we get some interesting light to shoot with?

saturday evening should be fine although i'd imagine most other people have plans for their saturday evenings, if i were to go to the canon seminar in the afternoon i'd be finished by 5pm so we could meet at about 5.30 -> 6pm perhaps

hows this for an itinerary?

meet 5.30pm somewhere in central london
shoot for a couple of hours
head to a bar for a couple of pints
home.

did you have anywhere in particular in mind for where to shoot? i was hoping to do more close up stuff rather than skylines and monuments (particularly as i only have a 50mm lens at the moment :) ) but i'm not too fussed really.

covent garden is a pretty good place to start? lots of people, some interesting architecture, and of course you can move on from there -- there are a lot of really nice buildings in the city of london, the tall glass buildings that sit right next to old buildings is a good contrast, ??

i think we should set the date properly then...

PotN London Meet
date: Saturday 5th August
time: 5.30pm-> onwards
starting point: covent garden (stc)

the plan: walk around london taking pictures for a few hours then end up in a pub for refreshments before heading home.

Can you put me down as a maybe. I have plans that day already, but I'm hoping that they will have ended by 5:30pm and I'll already be in London.
