Bug ID?

I was out at a local park with one of my daughters the other day just taking pictures of her at play on the playground.

Well I stumbled upon this fly eating what looks like a common housefly. I didn't have my flash with me so sorry for the very shallow DOF. Best I could do handheld.

I am curious what the larger of the two is (other than hungry). Does anyone know?

Good captures! The larger fly is a robberfly.

Wonderful find and pics- that's a robber fly- the largest ones can take out dragonflies !

Robberfly, and they're nasty lil buggers. They'll kill and eat anything else that moves in the insect world. Big buggers. Mean.
