Hello, does anyone know if there is a firmware update that would allow me to remove the 30 sec limit on recording movies - I have a IBM Microdrive and the real issue - the memory size - is not an issue anymore.

I dont think they will be able to get rid of that. The camera dumps the movie straight to ram, not to the cf card. Once it has finished the movie, it copies it out of ram and onto the card.

I agree that it would be REALLY useful to have it dump to the microdrive itself though.. I have a 1gig drive...

It's physics guys. CF and MD both cannot 'cook' the data in real time, so it has to be written to RAM first, then cooked more slowly into the card. Only way to increase the 30 minutes is to increase the RAM size.

Have anyone tried to change the internal RAM chip? Many devices can handle bigger amounts of RAM just fine (vice design), but I have no idea how Canon have done this. Have anyone even opened the device? My have still warranty left, so I'm not going to do that for a while.
