took both these on the weekend. #2 has been stacked from 2 photos, I think it's a damesell fly, but not sure of the exact id of either subject.

I think you id'd them right.

It's a little nit-picky, but it looks like you missed the focus on both of them. The damsel looks like the focus is right after the wings connect to the body, and the grasshopper looks to be a little below the eyes (instead of their respective heads) ;).

Great shots though. I like the composition. Keep shooting!

First one is my favourite. I can never find these guys. Always hear them but its so hard to track down where they are actually sitting. Good work!

Nice.
#1 is a field grasshopper, #2 is a female white-legged damselfly (males are pale blue)

I think the grasshopper is a common green, the field has more mottled markings

Thanks all for the comments, I agree the focus is a little back behind the eyes, I'd been taking landscape photos before doing these, so it took me a little while to get my eye in. The butterflies are better - will post them this evening.

Nice shots. I also think the focus is not on on #2.

#1 could do with a levels trim to make it pop a bit more - here was a quick go with a levels layer.
Does it help.

The ghopper looks great with details and good composition.
What's lacking could be the contrast...try increasing it provide more oomph.
