Red River Paper

Hello,

I am purusing the Red River website for photo paper, recommended by some of you with photo printers, and am wanting recommendations. I have a canon i960.

NG; How do you like the i960? I can't speak for the Red River paper, I pretty much stick with Kodak and Canon, and have great results, I once bought a brand and I can't remember the name off hand but it was terrible, you couldn't even make out what the photo was when I printed on it, fortunatly when I showed it to the store person where I bought it the refunded my money. I've I where you I'd see if you could have them send you a test sheet to try.

I know. the quality of the prints, using the Canon photo pro are as good as any film prints that I've seem, I even bought some Photo Canvas paper and printed a photo on that and it looked like a painting. great printer greater price... anybody want to buy a used Canon 600s

I suspect Red River is an alter ego for Kodak. There are only so many actual paper manufacturers and many, many brands. Ilford is one of the biggest manufacturers. Tetenal makes their own stuff too. Some of the major brands are made under the specifications of the major brand by one of the few actual manufacturers. Most of the rest are just packaged under the brand name. And still others are just a rip off, and still others are counterfeits of major brand names.

Red River doesn't reveal much on that site, but since they claim tests at Rochester Institue of Technology, I suspect Kodak which is in Rochester.

Don't have an answer to your question, NG... but:

Have you noticed any problem with fading? What paper do you find is most stable? Least stable?

Do you laminate? Put prints below glass? How about fully exposed on fridge?

I use Red River Polar Gloss and Polar Satin on a Canon !960 with excellent results. I used their profiles with good results, but have since had a custom profile made from Cathy's Profiles and the results are excellent.

I like Red River paper a lot, I had purchased the sample pack a few years ago, it prints great on my HP printer.

I have printed several cards using Red River Papers and love the quality. I was disappointed to see that they stopped shipping to APO addresses (overseas US military) so I emailed them to complain. I was pleasantly surprised to get a personal email from the company president explaining the reason and offering a good solution. I'll continue to order from them for all my card stock and postcard needs.
