I was out at about 9 or 10 the other and met up with 1 of my best friends. She's beautiful and a great person to be around. The pic may be a bit dark but i think it works with her and the surroundings. please c+c

I'm totally diggin that, Tom! Especially the blurred people on that other bench. Shows even more how solitary the subject is.

Great pic - any pic which evokes some kind of emotion or makes a statement is...and that one does.

Thanx guys, no matter how I photograph her, she def puts out some kind of emotion evotho she isn't very emotional. I guess its body language. I'm def. Gonna be shooting more of her. Also...any way of making it so the lamp light doesn't seem so washed out?

you mean the bulb itself being blown out? no coming back from that. Or do you want to make the light cast on the pier a little moodier?

I added a curves layer, with a concave shape to the curve. Then, used the gradient tool black-to-white on the layer mask to apply more to the right side of the image. Also looks great in BW

The other option to save the light would be to make 2 exposures (keeping your fstop constant). The first exposure would be for the subject, then without moving the camera take a 2nd exposure for the light. Then in PS just lay the 2 ontop of eachother, add a layer mask and erase the overexpose light to reveal the properly exposed light bellow it.

Good luck
