Hey potn members,

I have just purchased a 350D (hasn't everyone?) and havn't stopped using it for a second yet ;)

Anyway just like to say hi, there seem to be an outstanding amount of people here who know way too much about photography, and I hope to learn a lot from this forum.

Here are a few pictures I've taken:

My dog billy (external link)
ISO 200, f/3.5, 1/250th, 18-55mm kit lens used at 50mm, WB @ cloudy.

My main interest is to shoot BMX photography, this has obviously been edited in PS:CS2, cropped, desaturated and a cooling filter applied. ISO @ 100.

Regards,

Sam.

ps: please give criticism and advice on the photo's, I'll really appreciate any help!

Welcome Sam. Most of the time, you can get instant responses; sometimes it takes a little longer.

Sam, cool shot. I think maybe a little crop at the bottom of the ramps would be nice, but great shot! Keep them coming!

Thanks for the response, now that I look at the picture on my work computer with a lower resolution it does seem a little 'long'...

Any feedback on the animal portrait (the link above the action shot)?

Regards,

Sam.

The actions shot seems a little dark to me, and the dog port has good exposure but I would like it better if it was taken head on. It seems kind of snap shotish to me, IMHO.

I think the dog picture is cool but I think it would have been more interesting if the whole dog was shown and the picture wasn't just square more or less. But as stated above exposure was nice and for being new at this you seem to have a handle on your camera's basics. Keep plugging away and you'll get where you want to be. Believe me, learning a few things here and there will have a quick and wonderful effect on your photography. It is not hard to make great leaps and bounds in a short period of time with this hobby, just keep trying, reading and learning from the wonderful resource here at POTN.

Thanks for the response, as for the 'full view of the dog' shot, how's this? imo, he's too centred now I look a little more, maybe crop a few off of the left hand side....
