One thing for sure is that the internet has changed the way a lot of different types of business is done. Look at all the new types of businesses that have started up. New technology new business. The world is forever changing and to stay in business you have to change with it. Stock photography is no different than any other business and they must adapt. If your business stays the same it will never grow or survive.

coreypolis, that is a good article, remember though it is one point of view and there are two sides to every story.

I'm not sure this is a good comparision but I was trying to relate the stock vs. microstock to the big auto makers vs. japanese in the 70's. Lots of people hated the Jap junk because of what they were doing to the auto industry. All have survived and fill a different niche or different market.

its the point of view from the professional photographer, something that either the people here are, or atleast many strive to be.

if it continues, every photo in stock databases will be photos that happened by chance, as no one could afford to actually put a shoot together and sit back and watch the quarters come in. Pros will lose their jobs, as will models and everyone else connected with it.

Atleast sign with a agency that isn't RF. There are some mid level agencies that atleast respect the rights of photographers

Its a new world out there. Those who don't adapt, starve. The internet has opened a world to people that never could have imagined in the 1980's-90's and it has its good parts for business and its bad parts. It's a change though to many and new beginning to others. The past is the past, the now is the present and tomorrow is the future, what you do with it is your choice.
