Any Canadians send their 70-300 IS to Canon Canada for fixing?

I just sent off an email to Canon Canada to ask how they are handling the 70-300 IS service fix (http://www.usa.canon.com …922&keycode=2112&id=28468 (external link))

Just wondering if any fellow canucks have already gone through the motions and how it's going so far. I mainly want to get an idea of the turnaround time as I got to figure it into my schedule and just generally how Canon Canada is dealing with the problem.

cheers,
Rob

I know nothing about Canon service in Canada, but I’m bringing them my XT and 24 -70 L for calibration and sensor cleaning on Saturday, most likely..
I’d like to hear more about their service too!

I was recommended to bring my XT to them aswell (they are in misissauga right?), I have a few hot pixels.

Anyone have any idea how long it will take if I bring the camera directly to them?

It took 6 weeks for Canon Canada to let me know that my 24-70 was "uneconomical to repair".

I think it varied by what the problem/repair is. I took my camera into Canon for a sensor clean on a Wednesday and on Tuesday following week they had it shipped back at my house.

I took my 20D, 17-85 & 70-200 in shortly after purchasing them as they were back focusing. I needed them in less than 2 weeks and they got them back to me in just over a week. I did plead a bit as they had said it would be 2+ weeks normally. Everything was calibrated, I never did find out what the issue was but a focus test showed them to be bang on after calibrating.

So, my only experience with the was good. Thankfully there is a repair centre here in town.

Anybody with Canon Canada service experience specifically for the 70-300 portrait issue?

Anyway, I got a reply from them, just a cut-n-paste job of the same Canon USA service note from the link I already sent them , except with Canadian addresses at the bottom. Was hoping to get at least an indication how long it would take. I'm hoping they fix it locally and not send it to the States. Dropping it off will be a pain too since they are in Mississauga, open during business hours only and I work in downtown Toronto... *sigh*... I'll give them a call, maybe I'll get more info...
