I understand it's part of the effect, still, the sharpening seems too strong to me - makes the photo look grainy in a "noisy" way. Perhaps a larger Treshold setting in USM? Not sure.

I am sure there will be others who will feel exactly opposite. ;)

Oh, I really like the image, btw.

I like the title, and the framing certainly is pretty good as well as the composition. The black and white conversion I like alot except for the really high contrast on the pebbles in back. The high contrast works no doubt, but I wouldn't have had so many blown highlights that ended up looking like white specs. I'd have toned it down a bit.

I'm not sure about the "trial resizer" you used though. It looks like you used photoshop to do your conversion, so I would think you should have used your image editing program to resize as well. This resizer seems to have given you some aliasing (jagged edges) which is a bit unfortunate.

Still, I like the shot. it's interesting and a bit off the beaten path which is very much something that appeals to my sensibilities

I like the photo but there is something off with it. Maybe it is what the other two are talking about.

Yeah I up the contrast I dont really know why I kept it that way. It looks creepy to me. I agree about the resizing though it takes so much away.

Really interesting picture. I would have liked to not have the two cars sitting right on top of the pump on the right, but that's nit-picking.

In addition to this image, I would think that you could do some fantastic macros of the section that I have cut out.

[PLEASE NOTE: the crop is NOT a suggested edit; it's there only to show which part I think could have yielded some great close-ups]

I really like this shot, the B/W conversion is nice, composition and subject matter are interesting, and best of all it's different. It has an unsettling mood to it. well done.

I love the perspective distortion. It really does make these two seem massive and powerful. Well spotted, well captured. :)
Perhaps you could darken the edges up a bit to make them stand out a bit more from the background. Rulers of the world shouldn't have to compete with a white sky. ;)

thanks alot! I like this shot and have sevral crops of it. This one is the orginal I have one where the white sky is cropped out but it the pumps look to close to the top of the picture. I up the contrast because well... I dont really know why I somtimes like the look of things with the contrast way up.
