Photograph taken in Windsor Great Park. I was hoping to catch the rays coming through the trees, but guess i was at the wrong angle!?!

I still quite like the image though...

If you look closely, you may be able to see the reason for the name, although it's quite difficult to pick out at this size.

I "quite like" it also.

Now that you told me there is someone or something "watching" I have searched diligently and so far I have found a what looks like a llama, or a camel, or maybe King Kong, and nearby, maybe a little white poodle dog. Am I getting warm?

HOW TOTALLY FUNNY!!!!

One of the first posts I ever made here (Just a month after I joined) had the same title you used! Still one of my favorite shots, though not one of the best!

I think that is cool. If you want to look, here it is.

(It was post #14,550 and yours is #196,438 - so it was definitely in the Paleolithic days of POTN!) I had to edit it to reup the photos as my old web host is long gone!)

But on to the topic, your watcher in the woods!

I am not sure about so much darkness without any detail. And I don't see the watcher. I think is might benefit from bringing up the shadows.

The composition is too long and the bottom half has too little of interest to warrant all that space. I really like the upper half of the picture, but it's really too contrasty. There should be more detail in the shadows and more detail in the highlights. Have you examined the possibility of reducing contrast in order to get some detail at the extreme ends of the tonal range?

lol @ Julie. Close, very close in fact... It's a female Red Dear. Dunno about the poodle, but she did have a Fawn with her, so maybe you've seen that lol!

Thanks for the comments, i'll have a play around with it this evening if i get a chance. I always tend to rush the PP unfortunately, and settle for the fist thing that comes up!?! :D

Well, i've tried to take on board all your comments, so let me know what you think. I'm not completely decided on which i prefer, i think i need more practice with the PP side of things to be honest...

That is a MUCH better picture, and although I do like both, the second has much more interest, you can sit and 'look into' this picture, more than the first.

I love the second version. Looks like the deer is the Watcher in The Woods. Great title.

ARG!! Must be something wrong with my monitor 'cause I don't see any of those creatures except for the deer.:(

Your 2nd edition really rocks! I would crop off and discard the left 1/3 of this image. And then the trees would form the compositional 'Rule of repetitive objects' to lead the view to the deer. The deer is of more interrest than the left side of the image. The deer also substantiates the title "Watcher in the woods".

I LOVE this picture (second crop).

Thanks alot for all the comments! ;)

I'm not sure about cropping the left 3rd, as that puts the deer in the centre of the shot (almost), and it just doesn't feel right to me to be honest!?!

There's still something i like about the 1st one, i'm starting to think maybe i'm just dark and gloomy lol!

Cheers

Definately the second one. The first one was just too long and too dark with no detail. The second one provides a journey through the woods with a nice surprise of seeing the deer.
