Well by changing lenses I can go from a 10mm to a 1200 mm so I guess it has 120X zoom capability.

Wayne

Haha, very true. I have the 10-22mm, and if I use the 2x on the 500 for 1000mm, then I can say I have 100x zoom! Never thought of it like that.

I was told recently I couldn't use my 40D as the place only allowed 35mm cameras - and my lens quite clearly stated it was a 50mm lens. I obviously need to buy a 35mm lens, which would make my camera quite acceptable.

I was stopped at to door of the auditorium of a Cosby show with my 40D/70-200 f/2.8 IS (past the will call window/security in the door/ ect). I protested and asked if the doorman knew anything about photography. "Yes". Then you realize that by having a f/2.8 lens, I won't have to use flash and can very courteously get a few great shots of Cosby's silly expressions. He shook his head and said "no professional cameras, you must bring a smaller lens. Fine...I went back to the parking lot and put the camera in the trunk. When *flash* the *flash* show *flash**flash* started *flash**flash**flash**flash* I *flash**flash* could *flash**flash* barely *flash**flash**flash**flash* see *flash**flash* through the *flash* strobe *flash**flash**flash* effect *flash**flash*from everyone else's P&S cameras. I had perfect seats (4 rows back, center stage) and was pretty bitter about the whole thing. I paid $100 to see the show. At least the guy was really funny and made me forget all about it.

Why start from 10mm when the Sigma 4.5mm is available...

I was at school with my 70-200 2.8 and some kids came up and said
"whoaaa nice camera, can you zoom in on that grey brick over there?"
*points to brick a long ways away*
I zoomed in as far as I could, then zoomed in on the camera and showed them.

They weren't impressed.

everyone sees the foot long lens and thinks, wow ive got 10x zoom no my p&s with a 3/4 inch long lens, so that lens must have like 4000x zoom, and they see it and find out it only has 3x zoom

i had a friend put his p&s inside my lens hood...

Arenacross -- first row on the finish line. Denied admission with my "professional" camera -- 30D with 70-200mm 2.8 IS.

The good news is, once I got it, I must have seen 50 noinks. Which must mean they are NOT professional cameras!

Some of my friends get pissed when they find out that my 70-200 can't take a picture of her and her eight friends in a dorm room. I usually end up apologizing! No idea why...

Gotta love when people put their face right in front of the front element of that 70-200, expecting to get a really close up shot of their face while getting a gigantic shot of OOF'ness.

Agreed.

Thats the first thing people ask me. EVERYTIME.

"how much did that cost?"

I just tell them that if I broke it, It would take several months pay to replace. and that I would be eating Ramen noodles for the next year

I usually ask 'what's your car worth, can't be less than my beat-up '85 corolla?? - and you just bought a new LCD TV?', I spend my toy money on camera gear instead. Some guys think it's cool that a girl spends money on gadgets rather than shoes and clothes! Other people I only tell part-truth, and they still have kittens...

lol funny and super annoying - why dont they just tell you the real reason is so you wont be able to sell publicity photos of the show?

Hi,

don't forget to mount that on a 1.6 crop factor APS-C body.

Best regards,
