At an air show - multiple times - "Are you the official photographer?" Not a silly question, but interesting.

When shooting model in a park - "Do you work for Playboy?" followed quickly by "Can I watch?"

At Ren Faires - "Now that's a Flemish painter!" - You have to know the lingo :)

And all the time, anywhere there's someone with a camera and a scene - "Will you take me and my (wife, girlfriend, mom, etc)'s picture?" And they get annoyed if I don't immediately know the controls on their particular camera.

At the Columbus zoo last week a woman said "Wow what a lens, I bet you can get a fly on a elephant's ass with that" my response - yes I got two flies on a elephant & I'm selling it as zoo porn would you like to buy a copy? she laughed.
I had the 70-200L on the camera

My personal favorite...

"... and here comes the paparazzi!"

Not so ridiculous, but pretty annoying...

"What's the zoom on that thing?"

"How many megapixels is that?"

"Can you take movies?"

"That must take good pictures."

I get that one all the time because I'm not holding it out in front of me to photograph something. And the "will you take our picture" request is common.

I've never had anyone I didn't know ask to have their picture taken. Even if I weren't a photog myself, I'd never ask a guy out shooting to take my picture. Seems kinda rude to me. Why should he/she?

Yep. That one too.

Yep. Heard that one last week.

Here's another one...

"Are you a professional?" Nope. I do this for fun. [Baffled look in response]

I liked this comment on my 100-400:

"holy crap, do you mind if I ask how much that thing cost?"

I was out skating with my kids the other day and these two little girls were there learning to skate. I took out my camera to take shots of my kids for the owner of the rink, and this little girl started asking me something, then her mom quickly got her attention and said no, no ,no finally a few minutes later i asked the girl what she wanted, and she said her mom wanted to know if I could take their picture LOL I did and emailed it to them.

The funniest response though was when I pulled out the 70-200 and this kid said. WOW that looks OLD!

A couple from my school:

"Did you know you can get digital ones that look like that?" .... Duh!!

and when i've told them it is digital:

"How long does it take you to develop them?" or "Do you have a darkroom?" or "How much did that cost?" or "how many megapixels is that?"

one chav (not PC I know but who cares) pushed in front of me so i asked him to move politely (as I was taking pictures for the school of the sports day), he turned around and
said "What do you think you are? some kind of f****g b****y photographer?" - "yes" was my reply to that. :D
