As a jeweler I can assure you that jewelery can get you out of whatever dog house you are in, at least temporarily.....

Am I the only one who is always given someone else's P&S to take a picture of them? Never has anyone thought that I could take their picture with my camera and email it to them.

Actually, Back in August of 05, my wife and I were visiting Hawaii and during oneof theamazing sunsets, I noticed a gentleman with a backpack full of gear, and a gorgeous dslr (not sure what make and model...). I know he saw me trying to get a good shot of the sunset with my 30 year old Nikon slr and an old sign post as a tripod, so I asked him if he wouldnt mind taking our photo, with my Nikon. He said sure, commented on the vintage quality of the cameraI was using, and offered to shoot us with his camera, and gaveme his business card and said toemailhim when we got stateside, and he would email the photos for us. We did, he did, and the photos he took were breathtaking!

Fromthat point on, anyone who asks me to, I will snap a few for them, whether with my equipment or their onetime use 35mm...

Oh come on, all of you know you get comments from other people while you're using a big white lens!

I'm sure we all get the "woah, nice camera!", but I'd like to hear what other ridiculousness you guys get while just trying to take pictures.

Someone actually commented on the color of my camera. He said he knew the lens was good, but he never expected such a lens to be on a silver camera body. I laughed and walked away.

Yesterday, shooting my usual racing stuff... Why do men keep thinking a woman with a long white lens is taking pics for Playboy?

whatever they say I just told folks I was "over compensating" when i had the Bigmos out in public. But what made that funny to me was, so many would laugh because they got the que I was making a joke, but what tickled me no end was they had zero idea what in the world I was suggesting. That was my way of deflecting and stopping anything up front. Worked too.

I was at a friend's son's first birthday party at the park this weekend. When it came time for him to eat his cake, all the cameras came out. Several of my friends are photographers, so there were five SLRs out, shooting. My 70-200 2.8 IS drew the most attention, though. "My, what big lens you have!" "The better to shoot you with", I replied.
