I got asked if I was the "official photographer" at an event yesterday. when I admitted that I wasn't but I would be happy to shoot the event (I was going to anyway unless asked not to). she then explained that she thought I was because I had a big camera.

(my camera is probably about 5x bigger then the 'official photogs' camera! so sad! (he was shooting a mid/large p&s that had a tilt/swivel lcd on it) I think it was a S3-IS or equivalent. (which admittedly will give reasonable results for what they are trying to get... just nothing I would consider worthy to print.

I think we "photographers" (as in people who have really been bitten by the bug), develop a higher quality threshold that Joe public probably wont even recognise. He sees a good photo, we see the imperfections.

Still i think we are all striving for the perfect photo (Im trying and failing atm:oops:)

I agree, and I'm also in the same boat. there are a few images that I really look forward to printing and displaying in my house... but there are still too many that I don't want people knowing that I shot

Ahh yes, the ones that are good enough or show something of sentiment that simply CAN'T be deleted but aren't good enough to be displayed and are doomed to an eternity on your harddrive. I've got quite a few of those myself...

Good idea!

Actually my wife always tell me to give her ALL photos I take. I told her that if I have to give her ALL of them, her laptop would run out of space pretty quickly. I only pick the ones worthy to show to give her. Her remarks usually along the line "with so much money you spend on your gears, all pictures should be nice"

I do realize the progression from my first SLR til now and see big improvement. Yet I still think it's not good enough. The good thing about imperfection is, there's room for you to improve and enjoy the result of improving.

Save those for when you decide you need a new flash or a faster lens.......

There isn't enough bandwidth in the universe to allow me to do that.

This is so true. I've watched myself get so much better and I still suck. But I at least know my camera more and more every time I go out.

Isn't that the truth! except today as I was shooting a parade, I all of a sudden realized something was wrong with the cameras meter! it was staying dead center! then I realized that it had gotten bumped from M to P. LOL at least it didn't land on green box! then I would have looked like an idiot! hahaha

sadly I didn't get any comments to add here.

I would love it if Canon would make a locking switch or cover for that wheel.
