I would love it if Canon would make a locking switch or cover for that wheel.

it would definitely help me out. it has happened before, the first time I didn't notice it for quite a while this time it only took about 2 shots LOL.

I believe it happens when I have the camera just hanging from my shoulder and I am walking, as the camera back rubs against me it can catch the mode dial and presto... I frame a shot and the fhash pops up! now that would be embarassing!

Actually, there is a "lock" -- just set your power switch to the half-on position when you don't need to use the rear wheel.

Tony, I think they are talking about the selector for the mode of shooting. If not then I will shut up and return to my corner, hugging myself while humming.

No the top wheel to keep your camera on manual or Tv or Av.

thanks, that wheel I use all the time. it's the Mode wheel on the top that we are complaining about. I've had the aperture stop down from being bumped. but I will see that as soon as my eye get's to the viewfinder. somehow I don't notice when it switches to P, Tv or Av.

That's one heck of an expensive lock.... (A really nice one, though... with a lock like that, I could get rid of my current camera!)

Right. I'll just be careful to check my settings before I shoot.
