We had one of those guys here in Arizona. That's why London Bridge is now in Lake Havasu City.

I know been there. And by the way building (or perhaps rebuilding) the bridge then putting the water under it would make the whole process easier. :)

"Are you going to be one of the paparazzi now?"

Said by my supervisor when I brought my 50D + 70-200 2.8 IS to work and showed it to one of my co-workers...

I was at the zoo recently and I heard various whispers of "Look at his lens".

I had one passerby say "Excuse me sir, how much does a camera like that cost?" I told him I had about 3 into it. He replied "I bet its worth every penny"

I had two passerbys tell me "Nice gear".

I had one guy using what looked like a 100-400mm pull a major rubber neck on my gear as he passed by.

I had another woman tell me it was a nice camera and she sat down and asked to see my pictures which she was delighted.

I had a girl pass me carrying a smallish canon dslr and by the eyes and pout you could tell lens envy set in quickly.

The funniest moment I had though was I was shooting prarie dogs and I look to my right and there is this guy shooting a huge-a-mongous 600mm Nikon. His three young children all sporting nice dslr's and what looked to be worthy lens as well. It was nice to see him letting them learn the gear hands on.

You should have said... "I'll take a dozen". You could sell them for $1000 on ebay. What a moron.

I was in the botanic gardens in Sydney recently. There's a group of fruit bats that live there, and they spend most of the day hanging around in the trees and squabbling.

I'm there with a 40D, with a Tammy 70-200 f2.8 and a 2x teleconverter, snapping away in burst mode. Some other people see me and start looking to see what I am shooting. The spot the bats and out come about a dozen piddly little point and shoots.

One of the ladies there (with her partner) takes a photo, and she must have shown it to her partner (I didn't see, because I was looking through the viewfinder). I here her say, "Oh, that's a nice pic." Then, almost muttering under her breath, she added, "Not as nice as his, though."

I immediately thought of this thread, and I had to try very hard not to laugh. I couldn't stop the self-satisfied smirk though. Luckily she didn't see.

Not said to me and not about a lens but funny anyway... Yesterday on my way home from work I ran into a guy,two models and what I think was the MUA; he was shooting with a XXd, a 17-55 and the 430ex (me nerdy? noooo...), the whole setup looked like a PFT shoot to me. Anyway, the photographer asked the supposed MUA to hold a big reflector screen to which she replied with a miffed voice "Do you want ME to hold it? ME??" and then she frowned. I had to turn away to hide my laughter...

Happened to my friend.

Friend was talking on the phone while walking to his car after class with his 30D on his shoulder. A guy walking in front of him turned around and asked if it was a 40D.

Friend: No, it's a 30D.
Guy: 1D Mark III
Friend: What?
Guy: I have a 1D Mark III. It's way better.
Friend: Ok... it's the photog that makes the photos though.
Guy: No it's not! If you don't have a good camera you can't get good pics. A better camera means better images.
Friend: Ok...
Guy: *walks away*
Friend: ... So what were you saying again (back on the phone).
