It wasn't me, but the photographer tried to walk down a muddy incline at an off-road race track this weekend and down he went. I went down the previous morning and got some mud on my grip & lens hood. Not to mention my hands, leg, and backside.

I would just feel bad for camera store he rented it from.

Through use.

Not everyone keeps their gear locked in a glass case only to be taken out and lovingly stroked with white gloved hands and then put back.

:p

I'd feel sorry for the guy that rented it after him.

I'd be careful with the older 300's, CPS doesn't have that many extra parts to service those old dinosaurs these days.

I use mine, abuse it a little sometime, but never to that extend, it would be desastrous in my case since I don't have anything weatherproof, except for my 580EX II

I can definitely say that I use my equipment but this one photographer I know abuses the crap out it. He broke a 400 2.8 and two mkIII's in a two week span and didn't care. He's making bank though. I've seen him setup mkII remote camera's in places where it's basically a one time use placement. I always ask him, "what are you gonna destroy today?". What makes it interesting is the fact that he doesn't have camera insurance.
