"could please take a picture of us, you must be a professional photographer!"

I was using my Xti with kit lens.

I did, but it appears that the Title Fair is going vegetarian right now. :(

Hmm. Title Fair. Is that a place where one goes to get a title?

Or perhaps an amusement park for title fairies?

Of course, then it would be a Title Fairy Fair. Or perhaps just a Fairy Fair for short, although that conjures up other possible implications.

We were asked that once, and complied. But then the people didn't want to give us either their email or mailing address so we could send it to them. I guess they expected us to give them our CF card on the spot. Like that's gonna happen.

I guess that's one reason Canon has an on-camera "delete" function.

Alas I fear that you might be correct, for the present. Isn't your new title the last one awarded there?

Wayne

I think it's mine the last awarded
unless there is an other that poped out somewhere else since then in the TF thread

I take my camera with me when I go to lunch on campus*, because I never know when I'll see something crazy. I haven't gotten any comments here, but I get tons of funny looks.

*I work at University of Miami.

Speaking of seeing something crazy, why are we having camel rides on the campus green?

Maybe Moammar Gadhafi is planning on visiting Miami when he is done in NY?!

Taking a group picture at a frat event today, when one of the prospects (potential pledge) almost trips over my tripod and says, "Whoa, I wouldn't wanna knock over your $300 camera."

He sees me kinda laugh a bit to myself, so he says after a pause, "$400...?"

When I told him the tripod alone cost $300, he almost needed a change of underwear. I don't think he'd believe me if I told him the price of the camera+lens!

P.S. In case you can't tell by my sig, I had the 1DII + 17-40L mounted on the 055xprob+488rc2.

FS: 85 1.8 w/hood - $300!!!
1D Mark II - This is my Canon. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

I was taking a photo of a big building in the distance with 100-400 and a man asked me are they going to build a new road here. I said I don't know anything about that kind of plans so he asked again: "So what are you metering (measuring) then?"

My blood pressure was up a little too far yesterday at the Sac Airshow. Some weenie walks up to me while I was holding my 400 2.8 and sez - I HAVE GOT to get me one of those..

I turned to look at him and said "Well first you have to get rid of the piece of sh*t Nikon, and buy a real camera a Canon... he didn't look too happy even though I said it a somewhat kidding / condescending voice...

Oh well. Not everybody gets my humor!

I wouldn't be happy either. That's an uninformed ignorant comment that makes you look like a total jerk. I don't care what brand it is, brand loyalty like that is stupid. Canon is not the be all end all of photography. Neither is Nikon.

I don't think he was being all that serious. It's true, though, it's not possible to natively use the 400/2.8L IS on a non-Canon body. Nevertheless the way it was said was in rather poor taste, IMO, and hurtful.
