Hah! They nailed you on that one Mark. Forced you to explain yourself. The only one drawing SS around here is you. :{)#

Haha. I wish I was milking the government tit by getting SS already. It'd be a nice, tidy sum approaching $1800. But alas, lass, I'm only 53 so I got 9 years to go till I'm SS eligible.

A ha, but as of Nov. 23rd, I will be collecting my New York State Pension for 32 years of devoted ;) public service.

And on TV this morning they interviewed the great classic actor Eli Wallach from Brooklyn, of the Good the Bad and the UGLY fame, the Godfather, and too many movies to count. God bless him, 95 years young.

I said to my wife I hope I'm still collecting my pension from the state when I'm 95. A mere 32 years from now, a sum that would approach 3 mil.

Not bad, huh?

Now I gotta go shoot a wedding in upstate NY with another forum member here. Just wish I wasn't so senile that I remembered to charge my extra set of flash batteries last night instead of just now :o

53 and collecting a government pension. Is it any wonder taxes are out of control...

And even worse, you're throwing it away on that filthy Noink gear. :p

"Wow thatsquiteacamerayougottherehuhigottacanontoobutitsahalfbody"

as I'm shooting away at the Balloon festival. I chatted with him a bit while still shooting. Nice guy. Then it happened as he was going on "Oh, wow you're really <click> serious <cl-cl-cl-cl-click> huh? how much <click> memory do you have in that <cl-cl-click> thing anyway"

"only about <cl-click> 8GB"

"Oh my <cl-cl-click> God! I guess you are <cl-chchch> ...."

"Hmm. That didn't sound good"

"What? what happened?"

I pull the battery out and put it back in after receiving err-99

"Oh, is there a problem with the battery?"

"not sure. <cli-chchch> Uhhh.... I think my camera broke."

"No way"

"Yep.... guess I get to sit back and enjoy the show now.."

My FIL kindly hands me one of his D300's and I continue shooting away...

Guy comes back, "Oh, you fixed it"

"Not quite ... borrowed this one. Mine's dead, in the camera bag."

What a fun day that was

Yeee.... no. You see, it was the 40D that packed it in. The 7D was acquired while the 40D was in the shop.

I'm not sure why - but twice I've been asked if I work for the press...

Once with a 400D - and I think a 18-55kit lens and possibly my flash on top - and the other time with my 5D MK II, it's grip + the 24-70 ... I'm not sure why I get asked this... but well... I don't think I care.

Wow .. just noticed the thread for the first time.

And furthermore that its like 500 pages long.

Guess I'm going to have to get me a Big Cajones lens to feel the vibes of the comments coming in.

:D

Not a comment on a lens, but someone said to me yesterday - "you take disturbingly good pictures" ... erm... thanks?

Shooting with the 7D & 70-200...

"When I saw you from across the field, I had lens envy... Now that I am close enough to hear your shutter, I have camera envy too!! What are you shooting?"

We had a nice conversation. The guy actually knew something about photography, an unfortunately rare occurrence.
