I'll just set the lens on end and live under the lens hood. There's plenty of room in there.

Actually that's my tactic with my wife. Show her the 1200mm and how much it costs. Then I'll mention the 300mm f/2.8L I want. I'll compare the little bitty lens I want to the 1200mm and say that it's only 3.5% of the cost! I'll have it ordered by the time she figures it out. This logic can't fail!!!

...didnt realize how awesome this thread is.

Share one from this past summer for my nephews soccer game.

- Conversation started as I found myself on the opposing team's side of the field shooting with my 7d+70-200 2.8 is (better angle, not fighting the sun). A Father with his P&S started to engage in a conversation.

- Guy - "Wow, pretty big lens there, why do you need such a large lens and investment for photos?"
- Me - "I don't only use this for events like these, but the image quality, the ability to quickly get into tight shots, plus things like the image stabilization. The pics are great"
- Guy - "Well, I have plenty of zoom on this camera and if I need more zoom I just do it in my computer before I print."

- I didnt respond, took a series of high speed shots, the father just sorta strolled away.

Probably related to all those people that told me their "Kodak Disc Camera" took GREAT photos. If all you want is "OK", that's usually all you'll get. In photography and in life as well. Most accept "poor" as "good".

Not any of us on the forum, but we're all addicted to "L". Man, I should have picked an inexpensive hobby like collecting diamonds or gold coins!

Quite a while ago I was having late lunch with a friend and fellow photographer. She was going to borrow my camera (50D gripped) for a shoot the next day. We were sitting in a bar around seven o clock at night eating burgers. When the waiter/bartender stops by he serves us our food and then stops looking at the camera. He stands there a good enough 15 seconds, then pronounces "thats a big camera". Yeah, is my response. He remains standing right next to me for another 10 seconds then slowly walks away.

Thats the best I have.

Lots of old stuff but hey I am a student

I was at Disneyland yesterday at Santa's cabin and when it was our turn my kids we up to pose with Santa and I walked towards the Disney photographer and he saw my 40D, w/grip, 24-70, & 580EXii and said "Whoa you don't need me, I'm getting out of your way."

Then he offered to take my picture with the kids so I handed him my camera and said he wasn't sure if he could handle it. Then after he was done he said "Here's your camera sir" trying to hand me the Nikon with the kit lens that was hanging around his neck. Someone in line said it was camera envy.
