Me with a 5dm2 and a 24-70mm.....

Stranger : '' I think you are a great photographer ! ''
Me : '' .... but you haven't seen the pictures ''
Stranger : '' Oh I can tell those things , your equipment is great ! ''

that made me more angry than anything hahahhaa

Based on that reasoning I could be a pr0n star.

LOL - I follow your drift and, on that basis, according to the wife, so could I. :D

She's just saying that because she wants jewelry ;)

Lol - or another Apple related product which she can then sit on all the time, thus ignoring me. Woman's logic, eh, just don't get it. :D

Shooting out the window of a cruise ship of the passing scenery in Alaska just after dawn. A woman walks up with a DSLR and asks if I could show her something on her camera. I say sure. She then says, "Can you show me how to use shutter speed, aperture and Eyesos (sp)?" After a few speechless seconds, I told her to put it on green and leave it alone.

So you turned away someone who wanted to learn how to use their camera? It'd only take a few minutes to give someone a basic run-down.

I had a nice guy a few weeks ago approach me at Cedar Point when I was doing some shooting. I had the 70-200 II mounted on the time. He asked what lens it was and was shocked when I told him. He was excited as he has never seen one before in person. It also led into some extender talk and stuff like that. He then also saw the 5D3 and asked about it, wishing he could go to full frame cheaper. I told him about the 6D rumor at the time and told him it was supposed to be an affordable FF option. The very next day it was announced so I hope he took my suggestion to check it out! He was looking into the 7D but was unsure on it. Told him my positive experiences with it and it seemed to help him out quite a bit. He was a very nice guy though, one of the more enjoyable 'encounters' I have had to be honest, photographer or not alike.

Another person the other day (Gripped 5D3 and 24-70) say that is one heavy camera. First time I got a weight related compliment! :p

I photographed the Sekh Parade in NYC on Saturday and went to Grand Central Station to take a few shot with the 1DsIII and 24-105L IS and a negro woman said "IF your penis is as big as that lens, I want to see it."
I smiled and extended it fully.
Only in NY.

Did she smile when you extended it?

This totally made my day!!

Speaking of extending, with my 70-300 yesterday:

One boy said
"Gimme that for a sec."
"Now I have the fattest for the tightest, whatayawant?"

...

and his gf said
"Nothing fits that. It's not even skinnier than a fist, fatboy."

Someone was commenting on one of my galleries in a car forum (roughly translated): "Oh yeah, I've met him at a race, he has nice pictures because he has about 20K worth of photo gear."

First of all - no, my gear costs nowhere near 20K, not even close. And secondly, I don't know who you met, but it wasn't me - I'm a she, not a he ;)

way to help someone with the same hobby/passion/enthusiasm. I think you should put it on green and be left alone
