exaclty .. but xt + 75-300 combination dosent seem a really big or scary combination :)

Depends 'big to who' ;)

Canon touts the light weight of their 400 Diffractive Optics lens. "LIGHT" also really depends who is looking at it...to anybody with an appreciation of their big supertele's, the DO is light.. to anybody used to the small glass, the DO is big, WHITE, and HUGE, regardless

"You bought another lens?" .//"I love you" was my response.

:lol::lol:

Luckily this has only happened to me when I dropped $100+ on a nice bag.

But I'm sure it'll come up about a lens soon enough! :)

Well I had my first comments yesterday I had my 70-200 2.8L IS and it was the first day out with the new lens, i brought all three but i didn't show him the others.

The guy said "I have Lens envy, are you a pro" LOL, I replied No it's just a hobbie of mine. I knew strait away he is a Canon shooter by his comments and we had a quick chat and he took my website details so he could see the days shots in Darling Harbour, Sydney.

I asked him if he frequents this forum but he said he hasn't been around on it for around a year. He said he has a 10D plus a few lenses but nothing special.

It's the first time anyone said anything to me about my gear, but I just got my new lenses and my old were crap LOL, but yesterday in the City I had plenty of stairs and i heard a few comments like "that's at least worth a $1000" between two guys but loud enough for me to hear.

This really isn't a "big lens" comment, but it caught me completely by surprise.

While traveling on the Ferry in Seattle recently, 30D with 24-105L attached, a gal at the coffee counter. Said, "Wow, I didn't know anybody used those anymore." I said, "What this?" pointing at the 30D. She said, "Yeah, I still have a film camera too."

I told her it wasn't a film camera, but actually digital and pretty much "state of the art."

She was really surprised and a little embarrassed.

I've been asked that too.. "Are you still shooting film?"

Usually I just turn the camera around "Nope.." and let the 2.5" LCD speak for itself ;)

The 'digital backs' are dead giveaways, everybody recognizes the LCD>

Everytime I get a new lens, bigger in size, my friends think I have a whole new camera and ask why I went out and bought another one. I wanna laugh so bad at them.

in the City I had plenty of stairs.

On friday, I went into the city to buy a camera bag. Naturally I took my camera. While I was there, I took some pictures of town hall to test how wide the 24mm end of my 24-105 was (wide enough). None the less, I got a few stares. :D

On another note, the online street directory screwed me over. I caught the train to Wynyard to go to Paxtons. From there I thought the Crumpler shop was down towards Circular Quay. But alas, it wasn't... I had to walk 10-12 blocks in the other direction to get to the shop.

As I walked around a zoo with a 300mm Tamron lens, I was once asked by a passerby with a snicker, "Are you compensating for something?" It's obvious that he was implying that my "manhood" was smaller than average.

I replied, "Of course I'm compensating for something. If my little guy down there could take pictures like this lens can, I'd just walk around with my pants down all day." :)

On Friday night I was out photographing Christmas lights at an annual local Christmas event, and I was just using my 18-55mm kit lens. I still had tons of people comment on my camera, including one guy who told me his daughter would fight me for my camera. lol
